Honoring Paolo Padovani’s legacy of organic winemaking with new owners Marit & Jakob.
Carrying the Torch of Tradition
For years, Paolo Padovani poured his passion into cultivating top-quality Barbera grapes on his organically certified estate, formerly known as Cascina Nuova. Located in the renowned Nizza area—famed for producing some of the finest Barbera d’Asti and Nizza DOCG—this vineyard combines centuries of Italian winemaking heritage with Paolo’s pioneering commitment to sustainability.
Passing the Baton
Now begins an exciting new era as Paolo hands over the reins to Marit and Jakob, experienced organic farmers from Norway. Drawn by the vineyard’s breathtaking vistas, rich soil, and Paolo’s dedication to eco-friendly cultivation, they instantly knew this was the place to make their longstanding dream a reality. Renaming the estate Cascina VerdeVios, they aim to preserve Paolo’s legacy while infusing fresh ideas and a global perspective.
What “VerdeVios” Stands For
The name “VerdeVios” underlines their commitment to green, sustainable practices and highlights the vibrant “life” (Vios) thriving in every vine. By selecting the best grapes each harvest and respecting the rhythms of nature, they hope to bring out Barbera’s unique depth and complexity—while safeguarding the land for generations to come.
